Jim Kielbaso- MS, CSCS – Director
After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Michigan State University, Jim headed to Ann Arbor to get his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan. While in school, Jim worked as an intern in the Strength and Conditioning Program in U-M’s Athletic Department. During that time, he also served as the Strength & Conditioning Coach at Holt High School and worked as a personal trainer at the Michigan Athletic Club in East Lansing. After graduate school, Jim ran an Athletic Republic training center for a year before he was hired as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Detroit Mercy. While at UDM, Jim was a part of numerous league championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in a variety of sports. In addition to coaching responsibilities at the university, he also served as an adjunct faculty member teaching courses in Sports Medicine. After seven years at the university, Jim joined forces with Total Sports Complex to open the Total Performance Training Center in August of 2002. Jim is the regional Coordinator for the National Strength & Conditioning Association where he organizes and provides support for members of the organization. He has been a featured speaker at clinics and conferences all over the country and has authored articles in numerous publications. Jim is the author of three books- Speed & Agility Revolution, World’s Hardest Exercises and Weight Loss in Reality – and was contracted by the Michigan High School Athletic Association to develop a strength & conditioning curriculum for their Coaches Advancement Program. He also contributes regularly to several strength and conditioning and diet reviews. During his career, Jim has trained thousands of athletes including professional football, basketball, and hockey players, Olympic competitors, hundreds of college athletes and too many youth athletes to count. He is proud to be able to bring techniques of college and professional athletes to younger athletes looking to reach their potential.
Frank Wozny- BS, CSCS
Frank graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Kinesiology and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. He completed an internship at Total Performance before joining the team full-time. Frank has been at Total Performance for over 5 years and now is the Director of Fitness Revolution inside Total Performance. He loves working with teams, small groups, athletes of all ages, and people interested in making a positive impact on their lives.
Aaron Stickel- BS, CSCS
After playing soccer at Saginaw Valley State University and graduating with a degree in Exercise Science, Aaron served our country on a tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning, he directed sports performance programs at two facilities before joining TPTC. Aaron is certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, and specializes in combine preparation. In addition to countless youth athletes, he has also worked with the Detroit Ignition and many collegiate athletes.
Justin Zabkiewicz- MS, CSCS, SCCC
Justin started his academic career at Michigan State University where he earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Master’s Degree in Strength and Conditioning. Before joining the Total Performance staff, Justin spent 5 years gaining experience in the field of strength and conditioning across all collegiate sports, two of which were as a Graduate Assistant Strength Coach with the Michigan State Football team. Justin is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
Nate Collins – ACE, AFPA
Nate Collins is joining our staff with years of experience in the world of athletics. Nate played college football at Wayne State University and College of the desert in California, after his college football career Nate had many professional tryouts and started playing arena football where he played 7 years. Nate is ACE certified personal trainer and AFPA certified strengthening and conditioning Nate has a passion for helping today athlete get better and helping people reach their ultimate fitness goal.
Matt Cady – Hockey Director
MS, CSCS, FMS USAW Level 1, Precision Nutrition Level 1
Matt has been in Strength and Conditioning since 2005 when he won a National Championship with the University of Denver Hockey team as an assistant to Mike Sanders. This came after playing 4 years of Division 1 hockey at Miami University (OH). He has trained dozens of athletes who were All Americans that also went on to play professionally in the NHL, MLB, and NFL. He has a Bachelors Degree in Health and Sports Studies from Miami University and a Masters Degree in Exercise Science from Miami University. In 2013 he moved to Florida to train US Army Green Berets as a Tactical Human Performance Specialist. His main objective is to get the Green Berets ready for combat in whatever austere environment they will be presented with. He has programmed directly for 7 soldiers who successfully completed an Army specialty selection course. This selection course can be comparable to an athlete competing in professional sports or at Olympic level competition.
Jake Dalson- BS – Youth Performance Director
Jake graduated from Central Michigan University in 2016, earning a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Exercise Science. Jake interned at Total Performance in the winter of 2016 and began working for us upon graduating from college. He has experience working with youth, middle school, high school, and college athletes in speed and agility training, as well as strength and conditioning. He also has experience working with adults in personal training and group fitness.
John Dalson- BS
John studied at Central Michigan University and graduated in the spring of 2016 with a degree in Exercise Science- Health Fitness. During his final semester as a student at CMU, John interned at Total Performance Training Center. Upon graduation, John began working as a coach in our speed and agility program as well as personal trainer with Fitness Revolution. John has worked with athletes at the youth, middle school, high school, and college level and has experience in training adults in personal training and group fitness settings.
